Pakistan’s Quetta Railway Station Shaken By Deadly Blast: 20 Confirmed Dead

Quetta, Pakistan: A deadly blast has occurred in Quetta Railway station resulting into at least 20 people dead with other citizens injured. The explosion happened at the time when the station is at its busiest with trains arriving and departing and has raised the death toll and could be higher in the future.

Police and rescue teams were quick to mobilise and reach out for the people who needed them mostly. Many people have been taken to nearby hospitals as the injured while the police bomb detection squads had to be deployed to neutralise the area. Preliminary information suggest that there were indeed two blasts in Quetta city. One of the explosions claimed to have killed four people, the other blow approximately 15 injured.

Several witnesses referred to the blast as “heavy and intense” more specifically as the Jaffer Express made its way from Rawalpindi to Bhindi. The explosion resulted into some havoc as passengers and station staff tried to flee the scene, from the blast.

For the moment, no organisation has come forward to take the blame for the attack and the authorities are currently investigating in order to decided the reason as to why the bombing was carried out. The blow up forms part of a series of recent bombings within the Pakistan territory. Last week, an attack in North Waziristan led to the death of four security officials and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an explosion near the school left two children dead. Also, a previous bombing in Balochistan – the terrorists have also attacked school children, with seven of the children killed while the remaining twenty-two left injured.

The police in Quetta have since then put on emergency measures in hospitals to cater for the many dead bodies, and armed forces are on high alert.
