Lahore: The Pakistan cricket team’s performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was a complete failure. They failed to secure a single victory in the tournament, despite being the hosts! Pakistan was looking to round off their campaign with a win over Bangladesh when their final league game was washed out and declared a no-result due to rain. As a result, the streak without a win for skipper Mohammad Rizwan remained intact, which left many people talking. But despair not, Pakistan; you will be very well rewarded for your dismal showing.
The match’s cancellation awarded Pakistan a point. If Pakistan had lost the game, they wouldn’t have received even that consolation point. As a result, Pakistan now sits seventh or eighth on the points table. As per the prize money distribution of ICC, teams finishing in these positions will be given $140,000 (₹1.22 crore, approximately). Similarly, Bangladesh will get it at the same number.
And teams that also get at least one victory in the tourney earn an additional $34,000 prize. This sum will be divided equally between the two sides due to the Pakistan-Bangladesh fixture getting washed out due to rain, giving around ₹15 lakh to each team.
In addition to this, each of the teams playing in the Champions Trophy is guaranteed a minimum sum of $125,000 (approx. ₹1 crore) from the ICC. This translates to the total prize money exceeding ₹2 crore for Pakistan, even though they lost every single game. Furthermore, as the host nation, Pakistan anticipates additional revenue from the International Cricket Council (ICC).
