Islamabad: Many senior Pakistan Army officials joined an estimated 100 of their fellow military members who filed resignations with 500 junior soldiers due to confusing military orders. The massive departure of personnel has created significant security concerns for Pakistan’s defence because the 11th Corps protecting its volatile border now faces severe personnel shortages.
Senior commanders have introduced a series of conflicting commands that create confusion among troops about operational roles, leading to their inability to understand their assigned responsibilities. The military’s morale deteriorates because forces experience too many unplanned moves between corps units. People within the military have shown that the inconsistent orders from superiors lead to both confusion among troops and degraded faith in leadership, thus worsening an already strained atmosphere.
The India-Pakistan border security relies heavily on the 11th Corps, which currently finds itself at a breaking point. During his April 26 assessment, Lieutenant General Umar Ahmad Bukhari discovered that about 100 officers, together with 500 soldiers, had submitted resignation papers to leave the military. The corps faces a direct threat to border security because its operational capacity has significantly weakened due to the significant loss of personnel. The lack of workforce has caused three critical units, which consist of infantry regiments, mountain battalions and frontline artillery regiments, to experience reduced operational effectiveness.
Through a correspondence to General Asim Munir, who leads the Army forces, Lieutenant General Bukhari stressed the seriousness of the situation while warning about profound defence preparedness consequences for Pakistan. Departing military personnel indicates indicates three primary reasons for leaving their service, revealing fundamental operational problems that affect the military framework. Security operations in Pakistan’s border areas deteriorated because the military withdrew troops from these regions.
Despite the ongoing crisis, the army headquarters refuses to accept any resignations due to military protocol violations. All persons who try to flee their military positions face potential severe disciplinary consequences. According to estimates, soldiers and officers have left the military, but the actual number remains undisclosed by the army leadership to the public.
Security concerns have arisen about Pakistan’s ability to protect its Indian border because this border area has experienced ongoing tensions and periodic armed confrontations for a long time. Military experts predict that reduced forces in the 11th Corps will make the army less prepared and strengthen adversary activities. There is national attention and concern regarding Pakistan’s defence force stability because the Pakistan Army urgently works towards resolving this historic situation.
