Now, Fingerprint Lock For WhatsApp To Keep Lurking Eyes At Bay

WhatsApp on Wednesday rolled out an update for Android beta (v2.19.221) users to lock the app using their fingerprint. This feature, which has been available for iOS users for sometime now, will help others protect their WhatsApp chats from lurkers when the phone is unlocked.

Users will have to enable from the Settings menu as it is disabled by default. WhatsApp has added a new ‘show content in notifications’ option that can hide messages on the notification windows when the fingerprint lock is enabled.

There are 3 options of fingerprint locking – immediately, after 1 minute and after 30 minutes. iOS users get a 15-minutes interval as well.

WhatsApp will be releasing this feature to the stable update soon. In meantime, users can download the beta update and check the new privacy feature. It is supported on phones running Android Marshmallow or higher, and have a fingerprint scanner.
