Bhubaneswar: The Supreme Court on Monday declined a plea by students regarding setting up of NEET 2020 exam centres abroad.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had sought directions from the apex court, for the benefit of students in foreign countries in the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.
The bench asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to discuss with ministries concerned whether students who wish to visit India to sit in the NEET exam could be accommodated on the Vande Bharat Mission flights.
The court also suggested Medical Council of India conduct the exams online from next year to bypass the accessibility issues faced by students.
“If the joint entrance exam can be held online, then you should consider NEET also to be held in an online form from next year,” the Court said.
Candidates living abroad who had applied for the exams are in a fix as regular international flights remain cancelled.
NEET is scheduled to be held on September 13.
