New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated the third edition of the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) at India Expo Mart, setting the stage for a five-day extravaganza from September 25 to 29 that spotlights the state’s industrial prowess, agricultural bounty, cultural heritage, and innovative spirit.
With Russia as the partner nation, the event transcends mere trade deals, aiming to propel Uttar Pradesh onto the global map as a hub of opportunity.
In a rousing address, PM Modi emphasised India’s quest for Atmanirbhar Bharat, declaring, “We refuse to depend on any country. Our focus is Make in India — from chips to ships, everything will be crafted right here.” He underscored the march towards Viksit Bharat 2047, urging stakeholders to harness UPITS for sustainable growth and international collaboration.
A highlight is Hall 9’s “One District, One Product” pavilion, which boasts 343 stalls showcasing gems like Bhadohi carpets, Firozabad glassware, Moradabad metalware, and Saharanpur woodcraft. This initiative promises to transform local crafts into global exports, fostering networking for startups, designers, and buyers.
Russia’s spotlight includes a September 26 India-Russia Business Dialogue, uniting industrialists, financiers, insurers, educators, and policymakers to unlock fresh avenues for UP’s entrepreneurs.
Building on past triumphs —inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu in 2023 and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in 2024 — UPITS has doubled in scale. Previous editions drew over 2,000 exhibitors, 350 foreign buyers, and 500,000 visitors, clinching export orders worth Rs 2,200 crore. This year anticipates 2,500+ exhibitors, 500 global buyers, and 500,000+ footfalls, blending B2B deals with cultural feasts of Bhojpuri folk, Sufi melodies, and Kathak dances.
As crowds throng the expo, UPITS emerges as a beacon of ambition, weaving tradition with tomorrow’s trades.
