#NLUOprotest Trends On Twitter

Cuttack: The students’ agitation at National Law University Odisha (NLUO) entered the 3rd day on Friday. They are protesting against administration’s lethargy and dilapidated condition of the hostels.

The main issue is the condition of Girls Hostel – 2 where around 80 students are living. They were asked to move into the half-constructed building, and were assured that the work would be completed soon. It has been 2 years and the construction isn’t over yet.

Students alleged that they have to deal with water seepage and wade through ankle-deep water in the corridors during heavy rain. There’s fungus on the walls and even mushrooms are growing on them, media reports said.

One student told The Logical Indian that black liquid comes out of bulb holders whenever it rains. Electrical shocks aren’t uncommon, said another student.

The other demand is a world-class library that was promised years back. The library was mean to be the Asia’s biggest.

The protest has gathered momentum and #NLUOprotest is trending on Twitter.

BJD’s spokesperson in Rajya Sabha Dr Amar Patnaik also raised the issue and blamed the Centre for lack of funds.

Other law universities such as NUJS, HNLU have expressed their support to the protest.
