New Delhi: In an interview on June 21, 2025, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari suggested that there is a lot more to come in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and that the last 11 years under the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi were just a series of newsreels and that the real film is still in the making.

In an interview with Uday Nirgudkar, a journalist, Gadkari, who is the Union Transport Minister and Highway Minister, stressed that he holds loyalty with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Party determines what workers must do, and I will do whatever will be given to me to do,” he claimed. The previous BJP chief chose not to guess about particulars but hinted that his input would increase, which created anticipation for his future endeavors.

Gadkari insisted that he never wanted personal publicity, adding, “I have never placed a political biography anywhere or ever requested backers to greet me at airports.” He has even shown a personal interest in the problem of suicide among farmers in Vidarbha and stated, “I pay more attention to agriculture and social projects rather than construction of roads only.” His successes, such as motorways, FASTag, and e-car promotion, have even won him admiration among the opposition leaders.

Discussing the issue of India lagging behind with its per capita income compared to the top 10 in the world, Gadkari called population growth one of the major hindering factors. It is not a religious or linguistic issue; rather, it is an economic problem. He asserted that the population dampens the effects of development, leading him to propose a population control bill. He also pointed out Modi’s successes since 2014, such as infrastructure and economic reforms.

Gadkari’s statements emphasise his commitment to serving people and advancing strategic interests, which would solidify his role as a key player in the BJP’s future plans; however, we should still question India’s electoral and economic trajectory.
