New Zealand Set 107-Run Target After India Collapses On Day 4 Of Test Match

Bengaluru: A captivating day of Test cricket was witnessed on the first day of the climax, three match Test cricket series between India and New Zealand as the Kiwis reached the corner of beating India at India for the first time. New Zealand has pulled through on the last session of day 4, ty for the upset and now only requires 107 runs to win on the last day.

The day began well for India, with Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant coming up with a great show with the bat. India reached 400 in a recover and the two set an almost invincible platform by getting to 231 for 3. Sarfaraz made a brilliant 150, his first Test hundred while Pant, got out on 99, again was agonizingly short of his hundred for the seventh time in his career. Added together they put together a stand of 177 runs for the fourth wicket.

Still, after such a performance in the early part of the day, it actually turned out to be a darkest period for the India team, after New Zealand took the new ball at the 80-over knot. New Zealand, set 107 to win, started their second innings on a defensive note but bad light and rain put an early end to the day’s play and the Kiwis have not even come out to bat. Tomm Lathaam and Devon Conway were still at the crease when the game was halted. Thus, New Zealand now has a clear path to their first Test win in India since 1989-90, when Sir Richard Hadlee took 10 wickets in the match to lead a victory by 136 runs in Mumbai.

India, who batted brilliantly in the first two sessions, was pegged back after New Zealand’s bowlers got their hands on the new ball.
