New Delhi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again drawn a firm red line on Iran’s nuclear ambitions, saying that Tehran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons under any circumstances. His remarks came after a detailed conversation with US President Donald Trump on Iran, the Strait of Hormuz and a possible final agreement on Tehran’s nuclear programme.
According to the report, the development comes at a sensitive moment when the United States and Iran are said to be moving towards a possible final understanding for lasting peace. Tehran is reportedly waiting for Washington’s response, even as Israel has made it clear that any deal must remove the nuclear threat completely.
Netanyahu thanked Trump for what he described as America’s unwavering support for Israel’s security. He said the two leaders discussed the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the terms of a possible final agreement with Iran.
In a post on X, Netanyahu said that he and President Trump agreed that any final agreement with Iran must eliminate the nuclear threat. He said this would mean destroying Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites and removing its enriched nuclear material from Iranian territory.
The Israeli Prime Minister also referred to recent military operations, saying that during “Operation Roaring Lion” and “Epic Fury”, American and Israeli forces fought shoulder to shoulder against the Iranian threat. He added that Trump had reaffirmed support for Israel’s right to defend itself against threats on every front, including Lebanon.
Netanyahu said the partnership between the United States and Israel had become stronger than ever before. Reiterating his government’s position, he said the policy of both leaders was clear: Iran would not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday that Washington had made significant progress in talks with Iran to end the West Asia conflict. He said the discussions also included the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for commercial vessels. Rubio indicated that “good news” could come within hours and suggested that any announcement would be made by President Trump.
The statements show that while diplomatic channels remain active, Israel continues to push for strict security guarantees. The coming hours may prove crucial in deciding whether talks with Iran move towards de escalation or trigger another phase of regional uncertainty.
