Naveen Releases Report To Transform Odisha Into $1 Trillion Economy

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday released a vision report to transform the State into a one trillion dollar economy, exploiting on the unique competitive advantage it has over the rest.

The release of the vision document comes close on the heels of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman exuding confidence in her budget speech last Friday that Indian economy is well within its capacity to reach five trillion dollar in the next few years.

The vision report for Odisha christened ‘economic possibilities for Odisha towards a one trillion dollar economy’ has been jointly prepared by JSW Group and PwC India.

The document underlines the competitive advantage of Odisha over other states and its potential to become the export hub for metal products across the world.

The state is endowed with huge natural resources and is on its way to achieving this objective through its investment-friendly policies, infrastructure connectivity and skilled manpower.

“Odisha will take a central role in driving the national growth as a manufacturing hub”, the CM said.

He highlighted the sectors such as agriculture, food processing, creative industries, MSMEs and women entrepreneurship which will play an important role in making Odisha a one trillion dollar economy.

JSW chairman Sajjan Jindal described Odisha as a “hidden gem of India” and said regional economies hold the key to transform India into a trillion dollar economy.

On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has exhorted the business community at an event in Lucknow to contribute towards the State becoming a one trillion dollar economy.
