Mumbai: Delhi Capitals face off against Mumbai Indians in the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai Indians all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt could not have asked for a better day at the office in the final. This was a feat nobody had ever accomplished in the history of the Women’s Premier League. Nat Sciver-Brunt, who scored only three runs in this match, has become the first player to complete WPL 1000 runs. She was the first person ever to accomplish this feat.

Meg Lanning, too, is on the verge of creating history. Talking about the highest run-scorers ever in the tournament, Nat Sciver-Brunt ranks the highest with 1,027 runs in 29 matches. RCB’s Ellyse Perry is second with 972 runs in 25 matches. In third position is Delhi Capitals’ skipper Meg Lanning, who has 939 runs in 27 matches.

Today’s final also presents Meg Lanning with a chance to make history. With 61 runs in this match, she will be the second scorer to score 1,000 runs in WPL history. At No. 4 is Delhi Capitals’ Shafali Verma with 861 runs in 27 matches, while 851 of Harmanpreet Kaur’s runs are in the No. 5 spot.

Mumbai Indians started slowly in the final, having batted first. Both openers couldn’t last longer than five overs in the pavilion. Yastika Bhatia returned with just 8 runs, and Hayley Matthews was dismissed for only 3 runs.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt then added an important 89 runs for the third wicket in 62 balls, solidifying the Mumbai innings. Brunt scored 30 runs off 28 balls before being dismissed. Amelia Kerr had done all the damage with the ball, and she got Kamila on 2 runs off 3 balls. Sajana also did not open her account and had a second-ball duck to her name.

In a blistering knock for the Mumbai Indians, Harmanpreet Kaur was the team’s top scorer with 66 off 44. Mumbai scored 149 all out in their 20 overs, leaving the Delhi Capitals with a target of 150 to chase down the trophy.
