Mauritius: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Mauritius on an official tour. Such as during this visit by Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, who announced that PM Modi would be awarded the highest honour of the nation, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and the Key of the Indian Ocean.
As the first Indian to receive the award, PM Modi now holds the first citation honour.
Prime Minister Modi, on the first day of his visit, addressed the Indian diaspora in Mauritius. “A decade ago, in 2015, I unveiled India’s SAGAR vision,” he said. To this day, this vision continues to be centred around Mauritius. India has always stood and will always stand with Mauritius.
He also said, “It has also been the first country in the African Union, with which India signed a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) in the year 2021.”
In his speech, PM Modi also mentioned the multi-billion dollar investments made by Indian companies in Mauritius.
