Mumbai Police Arrest Shooters Linked To Baba Siddiqui Attack with Ties To UP

Mumbai: In a tragic incident late Saturday night, Baba Siddhiki, a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former Maharashtra minister, was fatally shot in Bandra East, Mumbai. The attack occurred around 9:30 PM near the Bandra Kherwadi Signal, outside his son Jishan Siddhiki’s office.

Mumbai Police have apprehended two suspects connected to the firing. One of the assailants hails from Haryana, while the other is from Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have also reported that one suspect remains at large. According to police spokesperson, both individuals are currently in custody, and the Mumbai Crime Branch is actively investigating the case.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde commented on the incident, stating, “I have received information from the Police Commissioner and medical officials. The assailants include individuals from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, with one still on the run.”

Additional Police Commissioner, Parmjeet Dahia, added that Baba Siddhiki was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in a critical state following the shooting. However, hospital sources confirmed that he was pronounced dead upon arrival, indicating that he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

The investigation has also delved into possible links with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, suggesting that the motive behind the attack could be retaliation for assistance provided to actor Salman Khan. Police are questioning the shooters regarding any connections to Bishnoi.

This incident marks a significant loss for the NCP and the political landscape of Maharashtra, raising concerns about the safety of public figures amidst rising tensions.
