Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said that rainfall activity in Odisha will continue for five days till October 10.
In a mid-day bulletin, IMD said that a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal now lies over northeast Jharkhand and neighbourhood while another cyclonic circulation lies over Jharkhand and adjoining north Odisha. Under its influence, there will be light to moderate rainfall in some coastal and interior districts till October 8 and heavy rainfall in nine districts on October 9 and 10.
According to the bulletin, thunderstorm with lightning will occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Khurda, Cuttack, Balasore, Bhadrak and Nayagarh on October 6, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Khurda, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Angul, Nayagarh and Bhadrak on October 7 and Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi, Koraput on October 8.
Rainfall activity will increase with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on October 9 and Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Bargarh and Balangir on October 10, the bulletin added.
IMD has also predicted moderate thunderstorm and lightning with light to moderate rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nuapada, Nabarangapur and Bhadrak between 4.30 pm and 8.30 pm on Saturday.
