New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag from the iconic Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day, marking his 11th consecutive address to the nation. In his address, PM Modi paid tribute to the countless freedom fighters, whom he referred to as “Azadi ke Diwane,” and acknowledged the sacrifices they made for the country. He emphasized that the nation remains indebted to them.
Reflecting on India’s journey to freedom, PM Modi highlighted the unity and determination of 40 crore people who, through sheer resilience, toppled a global superpower. Drawing inspiration from this, he urged the 140 crore citizens of present-day India to come together with the same resolve to achieve the goal of a developed nation by 2047.
“If 40 crore people could shatter the chains of slavery and realize the dream of independence, then 140 crore citizens today, if they move forward with unity, can overcome any challenge and build a prosperous, developed India,” PM Modi remarked.
Acknowledging the recent natural disasters that have caused immense loss of life and property, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to those affected and assured them that the nation stands united in their time of grief. “I express my heartfelt sympathy to those who have lost their families and property due to natural calamities. The country stands with them in this difficult time,” he said.
PM Modi also reflected on the pre-independence struggles faced by various sections of society, including women, youth, and tribal communities. He noted that even before the 1857 War of Independence, tribal areas were already waging battles against British rule. He underscored the resilience of the people who kept their dream of “Vande Mataram” and a free India alive through centuries of oppression.
The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming his vision for a developed India by 2047. He encouraged every citizen to contribute, saying, “If we can march ahead with resolve, step by step, shoulder to shoulder, no challenge is insurmountable.”
The Independence Day celebrations witnessed a vibrant display of patriotism, with the Red Fort serving as the backdrop for the ceremonial events that reaffirm India’s commitment to progress and unity.
