Aizawl: Mizoram reported its first COVID-19 fatality on Wednesday, when a 66-year-old man died in the capital city of Aizawl.
The patient had co-morbidities and underwent treatment at Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMCH) for 10 days, The Hindu reported.
“The first COVID-19 related mortality in Mizoram comes as a huge shock to the entire state. We are pained and will continue putting up our guard against this pandemic,” Chief Minister Zoramthanga said.
“The first Covid-19 related mortality in Mizoram comes as a huge shock to the entire state. He was 62 year old with existing co-morbidities and was under treatment at ZMC for more than 10 days,” Mizoram’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations tweeted, before correcting the age of the deceased to 66 in a subsequent tweet.
As per official data, Mizoram reported 2,607 coronavirus cases till Wednesday, of which 2,233 patients have already recovered.
