New Delhi: In a game-changing move for India’s electric vehicle (EV) market, MG Motors has launched the MG Comet EV— hailed as the world’s most affordable electric car.

With an on-road price starting at ₹7.30 lakh, the Comet EV is now accessible even to individuals earning a monthly salary of ₹30,000, thanks to flexible EMI and finance plans.

The compact 4-seater EV is designed for urban mobility and is ideal for first-time buyers and city commuters. MG Motors has introduced a finance scheme that allows buyers to make a down payment of ₹1 lakh, followed by monthly EMIs of approximately ₹13,400 over a five-year tenure. The interest rate stands at 9.8%, making it a viable option for budget-conscious consumers.

Despite its affordability, the MG Comet EV doesn’t compromise on features. It boasts a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers a range of up to 230 km on a single charge. The car is equipped with modern safety features such as ABS with EBD, dual airbags, and electronic parking brake. It also includes tech-savvy additions like a digital dashboard, connected infotainment system, and power-folding ORVMs.

The Comet EV is available in three variants—Shandaar, Firki, and Parformens— each tailored to different user preferences. MG Motors has positioned the vehicle as a smart solution for eco-conscious urban dwellers, offering both style and sustainability at an unbeatable price point.

With rising fuel costs and growing environmental concerns, the MG Comet EV could redefine personal mobility for millions of Indians. Industry experts view this launch as a bold step towards democratising electric transport in the country.
