New Delhi: This is not the first that the Mercedes SUV that killed former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry was overspeeding. An investigation into the case has found that the vehicle had a history of speeding and jumping signals.
Although it is not known who was at the wheel at the time of these offences, the vehicle’s traffic record shows multiple traffic offences, including cases of jumping the red light and speeding, NDTV reported.
Dr Anahita Pandole, a top gynaecologist from Mumbai was driving the car. Her husband, Darius Pandole was in the front passenger seat. Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole, the brother of Darius Pandole, were in the rear. The accident took place when the group was travelling from Gujarat’s Udwada to Mumbai.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was trying to overtake another vehicle at high speed when it hit the road divider on a bridge across the Surya river.
