Mumbai: The cameras have officially rolled on Maa Vande, a highly anticipated pan-India biopic chronicling the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Acclaimed Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan steps into the lead role, marking his most ambitious project yet as he portrays the nation’s leader.

The film’s production kicked off with a traditional muhurat pooja ceremony in Mumbai on Saturday, symbolising the auspicious launch of a project that promises to weave together the personal struggles, emotional depth, and political journey of PM Modi.

Directed by Kranthi Kumar C H and produced by Veer Reddy M under the Silver Cast Creations banner, Maa Vande was first announced on Modi’s 75th birthday in September of this year.

Unni Mukundan, known for his powerful performances in films like Marco and Garudan, shared his excitement on social media, calling it an honour to depict a figure whose “emotional and psychological strength” goes beyond power.

The makers aim to present a defining chapter in modern India’s story, with the film set for release in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English.

This marks the second major cinematic take on PM Modi’s life after the 2019 film PM Narendra Modi starring Vivek Oberoi. With shooting now underway, anticipation is building among audiences and industry watchers alike.
