New Delhi: Just a few days ago, the government raised the price of domestic gas cylinders by 50. The LPG Distributors Union has now threatened to embark on strike if their demands are not met within three months. On Sunday, the union said that they would be compelled to break out on strike if none of their demands, including a rise in commission, were met.
As per BS Sharma, president of the Union, this decision was taken during the national convention in Bhopal on Saturday. He said that their demands had been approved by members from different states. The steps were stated by the Union. It has already reached out to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to point out that LPG distributors have been receiving inadequate commissions matching their operational costs.
The union has appealed to the government for an improvement in the LPG delivery commission to no less than ₹150. They also expressed concern over the fact that companies dispatch cylinders away from the destination without demand. This violates law and should be stopped immediately. Ujjwala scheme: The union also expressed concerns over LPG cylinder distribution. They have warned that failure to accept their demands would debilitate a strike in three months.
On April 7, the central government increased the price of domestic gas cylinders. The updated prices after the ₹50 increase are as follows: ₹853 in Delhi from ₹803, ₹879 in Kolkata from ₹829, ₹853.50 in Mumbai from ₹802.50, and ₹868.50 in Chennai from ₹818.50. The cylinders given under the Ujjwala scheme have also seen a price hike.
