New Delhi: Delhi Capitals have maintained a perfect record in IPL 2025 after beating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets in their latest match. It was Delhi’s fourth straight win, and they have remained unbeaten in the season so far. It was played in Bangalore, where the hosts put on a terrific fight before Delhi, led by Lokesh Rahul, chased it down with 2 wickets remaining.
Mistakes Cost RCB a Strong Start
RCB opted to bat first after winning the toss and exploded from the get-go. The scorecard read 50 by the end of the third over, and the foundation was anchored for a big total. As the team looked to be getting away, fans started fantasising about a 200+ score. Yet, a Virat Kohli-Phil Salt mix-up resulted in Salt’s run-out that swung momentum in Delhi’s favour. After this energetic start of 61 without loss, RCB soon fell away to 102-5. Although Tim David made a late cameo for 37 runs off 20 balls, RCB managed just 163-7 in their 20 overs.
Chase by Delhi Capitals: Rahul Masterclass
The Delhi chase began under pressure as they lost four wickets for 58 runs within the powerplay. But then Lokesh Rahul played a blinder to keep them in the game. RCB captain Rajat Patidar dropped a simple catch to allow Rahul a second chance after dismissal on just 5 runs, which he grasped with both hands. He went on to finish with an unbeaten 93, taking his side to within sight of their target. Young South African batter Tristan Stubbs provided Rahul with excellent assistance, scoring 38 off 23 balls, as Southern Brave ended on 189 for two. That partnership piloted Delhi to a 13-ball triumph.
Delhi Capitals then chased down 164 with 6 wickets left in their kitty. The win was the latest in a string of excellent all-around performances this season from the team, and what is quickly shaping up to be a perfect year has provided another high point for one of IPL 2025’s top teams.
On the other hand, it is another case of a disappointing loss at home for RCB, where they failed to go through with clinical performance after a good start.
