Mumbai: After the immense popularity of the quiz show “Kaun Banega Crorepati”, its 16th season ended recently, and the iconic show host Amitabh Bachchan bid a heartwarming goodbye to his loving audience. The legendary actor had also been a part of the show for the last 25 years, starting with KBC in 2000.
The production sources report a noticeable increase in the veteran actor’s salary for the new season. According to reports, his fee was hiked to Rs 2.5 crore, and he charged the amount for each episode this season, which was double the Rs 1.25 crore that he took home in the previous season. Bachchan raked in an impressive Rs 5 crore a day, shooting two episodes a day.
If this is split for each episode, it would come out to be roughly Rs 5 crore for each episode, given the 75 days that have gone into shooting for Season 16, Bachchan’s sum total earnings from the show would run to around Rs 375 crore. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous season, when he received approximately Rs 125 crore for 100 episodes.
Filming of KBC takes place on two to three days a week, and Bachchan is flexible when it comes to his prior film commitments or shooting schedules, which are accommodated by the production team. The team tries to finish filming roughly a month before the season finale airs, which is also why shooting typically kicks off around a month and a half before the season premiere.
Bachchan was paid around Rs 12.5 lakh for one episode of KBC when he first hosted it in 2000. Two decades later, his fee per episode has multiplied 20 times, making him one of the highest-paid television hosts in India.
