Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Union Minister’s Son Ashish Mishra Denied Bail

Lucknow: A court on Wednesday denied bail to Ashish Mishra — the son of Union minister Ajay Mishra – in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

Senior prosecution officer (SPO) SP Yadav said that main accused Ashish Mishra and alleged accomplice Ashish Pandey had moved bail applications, which were rejected by Chief Judicial Magistrate Chinta Ram, PTI reported.

Four farmers were allegedly mowed down by Mishra’s car during a farmers’ protest in UP’s Lakhimpur district on October 3. Two BJP workers, a local journalist and a driver of the minister also lost their lives in the violence that followed.

Ashish Mishra was arrested on Saturday night, three days after an FIR was filed against him.
