Kharge Returns Five Acres Of Land, BJP Accuses Congress Of Land Grabbing In Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka’s political landscape has been shaken by the alleged MUDA land scam, intensifying the challenges for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. In a significant development, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and his family have decided to return five acres of land allocated to their Siddharth Vihar Trust by the Karnataka government.

The decision has drawn sharp criticism from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi accusing Kharge of returning the land to avoid potential legal consequences. Trivedi remarked, “Kharge’s decision to return the land clearly indicates a conspiracy to grab land using his political influence.” He also referred to other prominent Congress leaders, including CM Siddaramaiah, who had previously returned government-allocated land.

Trivedi further linked this incident to a pattern of alleged corruption involving Congress leaders, recalling past cases such as the National Herald case involving Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. He criticised Congress leaders for what he described as a “moral collapse,” stating, “From land donation to land grabbing—this is the decline of Congress.”

The BJP has intensified its attacks on the Congress, with Trivedi questioning whether the leaders who returned the land should resign. He also took aim at Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of hypocrisy, stating, “Rahul Gandhi’s so-called ‘shop of love’ looks more like a property dealer’s outlet.”

Meanwhile, Kharge’s move has also raised speculation about possible irregularities in the original land allocation. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal commented, “The return of this land by Kharge’s family raises serious questions about the process and transparency of the allocation. A full investigation is necessary.”

With the MUDA scam probe ongoing, the political temperature in Karnataka shows no signs of cooling, with both Congress and the BJP trading barbs over land allocation practices and allegations of misuse of power.
