New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning on December 21st in the ongoing liquor policy case. This marks the second time Kejriwal has been called by the investigating agency after he skipped his initial summons on November 2nd, citing it as “illegal.”
Kejriwal is currently scheduled to embark on a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat tomorrow, December 19th, and will remain secluded until December 30th. He has been a long-time practitioner of Vipassana and has previously attended retreats in locations like Jaipur and Bengaluru.
Sanjay Singh, an AAP MP, and former Chief Minister Manish Sisodia are currently in judicial custody as a result of the Delhi government’s implementation of the liquor policy in July 2022. The ED is reportedly nearing the completion of its chargesheet in the case, which has previously mentioned Kejriwal’s name on multiple occasions.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has vehemently defended Kejriwal, calling the ED summons an act of political vendetta and harassment. They have dismissed the allegations as baseless and claim the central government is conspiring to crush the party.
