KC Tyagi Quits JDU Spokesperson Role, Affirms Loyalty To Nitish Kumar

Patna: In a notable development within the Janata Dal (United) party, senior leader KC Tyagi has resigned from his role as the party’s national spokesperson. The decision was announced on Sunday, with Rajiv Ranjan Prasad being appointed as his successor. Despite stepping down from the spokesperson position, Tyagi made it clear in a conversation with India TV that he remains committed to the JDU and its leader, Nitish Kumar.

Tyagi, a veteran politician with a long history in Indian politics, emphasised that his departure from the role does not signal a break with the party. He stated, “I am still with the Janata Dal (United) and will continue to serve as the political advisor to the party. My commitment to Nitish Kumar is unwavering.” Tyagi’s association with the party and its leadership remains strong, and he expressed his admiration for Nitish Kumar, calling him “the best politician at present.”

Addressing speculation about his views on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tyagi clarified that he holds no opposition towards the BJP, recounting his past association with Jan Sangh and prominent BJP leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani. “I have no issues with the BJP. I’m not one to hold double standards,” he remarked, indicating that his ideological stance remains aligned with the broader principles of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Regarding his resignation, Tyagi revealed that he had requested to step down from the national spokesperson role on multiple occasions over the past year. “When Nitish Kumar resigned from the party president’s post, I also requested to be relieved of my duties. My decision to step down was mutual and amicable,” he explained.

Tyagi also disclosed that he has refrained from participating in public debates over the past four months and intends to maintain a low profile, though he remains active in his advisory role within the party. He concluded by expressing his best wishes for the continued success of both Bihar and the central government, reaffirming his loyalty to Nitish Kumar and the JDU.

This change in leadership comes at a critical time for the JDU as it navigates the complexities of Bihar’s political landscape. With Tyagi’s longstanding experience and continued influence as an advisor, his presence will still be felt within the party, albeit in a different capacity.
