Kangana Criticised: Farmer Leader Urges BJP to Act After Controversial Comments

Chandigarh: Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher has strongly condemned actress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Kangana Ranaut, over her recent comments. Pandher has called on the BJP to take strict action against Ranaut, asserting that her remarks were inappropriate and deserving of retribution from her party.

Speaking to the media, Pandher pointed out that while the BJP has distanced itself from Ranaut’s statements, it cannot ignore the fact that she is a sitting MP representing the party. “If the BJP believes that her statement was wrong, then they must take action against her,” Pandher stated. He also urged the party to demand a public apology from Ranaut for her comments.

Pandher’s reaction came in the wake of the Jagjit Singh Dallewal case, where the farmer leader was allegedly prevented from travelling at Delhi airport. “What happened to Jagjit Singh Dallewal was unjust. We are citizens of this country and have every right to carry out our activities without interference,” Pandher remarked.

Adding to the criticism, Pandher announced that farmers would gather at the country’s borders on August 31 in protest. His comments also found support from politician Abhay Chautala, who accused the BJP of being anti-farmer. “If the BJP were truly pro-farmer, Kangana Ranaut wouldn’t have dared to make such remarks against the farming community,” Chautala said.

Ranaut, who represents Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, sparked controversy when she linked the farmers’ protests in India to a coup in Bangladesh during an interview with a newspaper. She suggested that foreign powers, including China and the United States, were influencing events in India.

In response to the backlash, the BJP has reportedly issued a warning to Ranaut, advising her to refrain from making such statements in the future. The party emphasised its commitment to the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas” and to maintaining social harmony.
