JMM Targets BJP’s Election Strategy Amid Defection Rumours

Ranchi: With the Jharkhand Assembly elections approaching, political parties are intensifying their strategies to secure the maximum number of seats. Amid ongoing discussions about seat sharing, chief ministerial candidates, and deputy chief ministers, Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has taken a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its electoral approach.

In a recent post on social media platform X, JMM mocked the BJP, stating, “BJP’s strategy for the upcoming elections is decided. The name of CM will come out of the slip, but eight names of Deputy CM will be decided. Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.” The tweet is seen as a jibe at the BJP’s potential internal tussles over leadership roles.

The political landscape in Jharkhand is further heating up with the news of Champai Soren, a minister in the Hemant Soren government, reportedly considering a switch to the BJP. Champai Soren recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sparking speculation about his next political move. If Champai Soren joins the BJP, it would be a significant blow to the ruling JMM ahead of the elections. Known for his previous rebellion against the JMM, Champai Soren has also hinted at the possibility of forming a new political party.

The Jharkhand Assembly has 81 seats, with a majority mark of 41. In the 2019 elections, the JMM emerged victorious, securing 30 seats, while its ally, the Congress, won 16 seats. The BJP, despite being a major contender, managed to secure 25 seats.
