New Delhi: For undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to sharply increase the tuition rates for the 2025–26 session. For many courses—including humanities, social science, science, and professional courses—the rise falls between 16 per cent and 41 per cent. The choice will also force an extra financial burden on pupils. The Department of Persian has the highest climb; fees there rise by 41.41 per cent from Rs 6,700 to Rs 9,475 yearly.
Following this the Arabic Department, which increases fees from Rs 7,200 to Rs 9,875 at 37.15 per cent. Now at Rs 9,875 yearly, other foreign language courses, including Turkish, French, and Spanish, also show similar increases.
A four-year BA (Multi disciplinary) will now cost Rs 9,875 annually, a 32.99 per cent increase from Rs 7,425. Social science courses, including MA and BA in political science, history, and sociology, will now cost Rs 9,875 per annum. Additionally, the cost of BCom (Hons) has increased by 33.02 per cent to Rs 9,875 per annum..
Courses in science, including BSc in Geography, Mathematics, and Physics, have shown a 34.29 per cent rise in cost from Rs 7,800 to Rs 10,475 annually.
Professional courses have also suffered; BTech courses rise by 19.04 per cent to Rs 19,225 and MTech courses by 16.48 per cent to Rs 21,375. Law courses, including BA LLB and LLM, have suffered a 19 per cent rise; the cost now is Rs 17,850.
Apart from charging a higher fee, Jamia Millia Islamia has launched fresh initiatives and increased the usage of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for enrolling.
