New Delhi: In a significant geopolitical development that has sent shockwaves from Israel to Europe, Iran has reportedly captured an oil tanker near the Somalian coast.
This aggressive move signals a dangerous escalation, as Tehran is allegedly preparing to choke the world’s most critical maritime routes, potentially bringing global trade to a grinding halt.

According to latest reports, after successfully closing off the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Iran is now setting its sights on blocking the Bab el-Mandeb strait with the assistance of Yemen’s Houthi rebels. Furthermore, Tehran is purportedly seeking Russia’s backing to obstruct the Cape of Good Hope, which serves as a vital alternative shipping route.

If this three-pronged blockade — encompassing the Strait of Hormuz, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Cape of Good Hope — materialises, it would effectively paralyse commerce and supply chains between Europe, Asia, and the Arab nations.
