New Delhi: In a chilling revelation from the November 10 Delhi blasts probe, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has unmasked Doctor Shaheen Saeed, the enigmatic “Madam Surgeon”, as the mastermind of a Pakistan-fuelled Jeish-e-Mohammed (JeM) module aiming to sow chaos in India.
The blasts, which rattled the capital and claimed lives, were no random act but the handiwork of the “Wolf Pack”— a shadowy network coded in beastly whispers. Operating between 11 PM and 2 AM, when wolves prowl fiercest, the group exchanged encrypted missives on WhatsApp, starting chats with a simple “howl”. Shaheen, code-named “Alpha”, helmed this digital den from her perch as admin, directing a “lady doctor gang” and two all-women squads — Aurora and Luna — named after she-wolves.
NIA sleuths, poring over seized chats, traced the venomous trail to Pakistan’s ISI-backed JeM lair, where Field Marshal Asim Munir allegedly shields chief Masood Azhar. Shaheen reported straight to Azhar’s kin: sister Saheeda and Afeera Bibi, widow of a slain nephew. Her mission? Radicalise women when borders barred male infiltrators, swelling JeM’s Indian ranks with fanatic brides of jihad.
A Kanpur native radicalised between 2009 and 2013, Shaheen vanished that year, resurfaced in the UAE from 2016 to 2018 — possibly slipping into Pakistan for terror boot camp — and was sacked from her job in 2021. Now, with her UAE-based handler Arif (“Spire”) in the net, the plot thickens: was Delhi just the overture to a symphony of sabotage?
As arrests mount, the NIA warns of more “Wolf Attacks” looming. India braces — will the surgeon’s scalpel strike again, or has the pack been hunted down?
