Patna: The Yadav family fortress at 10 Circular Road turned into a war zone of words on Monday evening as hundreds of furious RJD workers laid siege to Lalu Prasad’s residence, shouting “Sanjay Yadav murdabad.” in a stunning show of rebellion just 24 hours after Tejashwi Yadav was anointed the party’s undisputed leader.
The trigger? Deep resentment over “parivaarvaad on steroids” served as the trigger for the rebellion. Workers, many carrying old lantern flags now soaked in anger, accused Lalu of handing key organisational posts to his daughter Rohini Acharya, Sanjay Yadav, and other family retainers while sidelining grassroots fighters who braved lathis and jail during the jungle raj battles.
Videos shot on mobile phones show party flags being waved upside down, black flags fluttering, and slippers hurled towards the gates as slogans of “Lalu ji, cadre ko nyay do!” rent the air. A section even chanted “Ab toh Tejashwi bhi parivaar ke gulam!”— a direct attack on the new crown prince.
Police had to resort to a mild lathi charge when protesters tried to force their way in. At least eight workers were detained. Inside, an emergency meeting of senior leaders was underway; sources say a livid Lalu watched the scenes on TV and reportedly told aides, “Yeh sab Nitish aur BJP ka khel hai.”
The outburst has exposed dangerous fault lines in a party that once prided itself on unbreakable MY (Muslim-Yadav) loyalty.
