Hindi Poet Viswanath Prasad Tiwari To Receive Gangadhar National Award

Sambalpur: The ‘Gangadhar National Award’ will be conferred on eminent Hindi poet Viswanath Prasad Tiwari during the 53rd Foundation Day celebrations of the Sambalpur University in January, Vice-Chancellor Deepak Behera informed.

The award car a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a shawl and citation, would be presented to Tiwari in January.

Instituted in memory of Odisha’s renowned bard Gangadhar Meher, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a shawl and citation. It is being conferred on a poet of national repute every year since 1991.

Tiwari, who was the president of the Sahitya Akademi from 2013 to 2018, has published 50 works, which include criticism, poetry collections, travelogues, biography, interviews, compilation and edited books.

Notable among them are ‘Rachana ki sarokar’, ‘Kavita kya hai’, ‘Saath chalte hue’ and Bistar duniya le liye’.
