Bhubaneswar: With a fresh low-pressure area likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday sounded heavy rainfall warning for Odisha in the next 24 hours.
“The cyclonic circulation over north Odisha and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand now lies over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh with a tilt towards the south-west direction. Under its influence, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to develop over the north Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood by August 29,” the IMD said in a morning bulletin.
In view of the weather conditions, IMD has issued orange and yellow warning for the following districts.
August 29 (Yellow Warning – Be Aware)
Heavy rainfall at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Koraput.
August 30 (Yellow Warning- Be Aware)
Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jagatsingpur and Nayagarh.
August 31 (Orange Warning – Be Prepared)
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada and Kandhamal.
(Yellow Warning – Be Aware)
Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Gajapati, Rayagada and Sambalpur.
