Heatwave Hits Seven States As Temperatures Soar Across India

New Delhi: The most noticeable part is that the heat will increase, and heatwave conditions are expected to strengthen, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), as the weather becomes hotter in a few parts of the country. The IMD has warned of heat waves in over seven states, where an increase of up to 5°C is likely over the coming days. States that come under its wagging are Gujarat, U.P., Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh.

Rajasthan Heatwave

Prolonged heatwave conditions are predicted for the next three days over most districts of Rajasthan; a yellow alert has been issued, says IMD. The department has warned about severe heat in cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur, Barmer, Bikaner, Nagaur, and neighbouring areas starting today. Actuals will likely peak around 44-45°C, 3-4°C above normal. The following 4-5 days will bring no respite, and we expect the heat to persist. Western Rajasthan, especially bordering areas, may reach 45-46°C during April 15-17 with associated heatwaves. Maximum temperatures in neighbouring Anda, like Shekhawati, Eastern Rajasthan, Jaipur & Bharatpur, might cross 42-44°C and be prolonged for these regions for the same period; some parts might also be in the grip of a severe heat wave.

Delhi’s Weather Outlook

Delhi: The day will be clear, with heavy winds at 20-30 km/h. The maximum temperature in the capital will be around 38 degrees, and the minimum temperature will be 23 degrees. The dryness will continue, with no relief from the heat.

Weather Condition in UP

Lucknow’s capital is also predicted to have clear weather with wind speeds of 10-15 km/h. Today, the maximum temperature will be around 35°C, and the minimum will be 24°C. Clear weather will make the day hotter in Agra. Here, the temperature will reach 38°C maximum and 25°C minimum. A sudden rise in day temperature is needed for the next few days, and the mercury can reach up to 43 degrees.

Gujarat Faces Extreme Heat

The heat has claimed its first victims in Gujarat itself. However, severe heatwave conditions have been prevailing in Gujarat, where the maximum temperature has crossed 43°C at Kandla, while Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad are also significantly unbearably hot. IMD predicts no relief from the scorching heat in the state for the time being.

Punjab Braces for Heatwave

Since the beginning of April, Punjab has been facing scorching heat, and following a small relief after erratic weather, the heat is again becoming intense. From April 15 to 17, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in the state. For this time of the year, temperatures are likely to be 5 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal over many parts of Punjab.
