Heartbreaking Plane Crash In South Korea: Survivors Found Amidst Devastation!

Muan: A tragic plane crash occurred on December 29, 2024, at Muan International Airport in South Korea, involving a Boeing 737-800 operated by Jeju Air. The aircraft was conveying 181 people, 175 of whom were passengers and six others crew members, who were all coming from Bangkok. According to accounts, at least 179 people were killed in the occurrence while 2 were found alive in the debris.

The accident occurred when the aircraft was landing as it overran the runway and then hit a boundary wall. Witness testimonies and, more crucially, tape recordings capture the plane trying to land with its wheels retracted and bursting into flames upon touching down. The arrival of emergency services and the subsequent emergency management process of the airport occurred with a thick haze of smoke.

The rescue operation has been able to pull out 96 bodies so far, while continued efforts are underway searching for other casualties. South Korean acting president Choi Sang-moo said he was shocked over the tragedy and also ushered a rescue mission without delay. He has been in power for only a few days, after the parliament impeached the previous head of state.

Man-made errors that have been considered include landing gear failure in addition to failure due to a bird strike. Further, the authorities are probing the cause of this calamity with a view to ascertaining its root cause.

In response to this sad incident, Jeju Air has provided an apology to families of the bereaved and has provided hotlines. This has in due cause elicited an emphatic outpouring of emotion across South Korea as citizens grapple with the loss.
