Mumbai: The resounding success of the film Hanuman Ansh has not only shattered box office records but also transformed the life of Sunil Lodhi, a visually impaired folk singer from Bundelkhand. Lodhi, who lent his soulful voice to the film’s viral devotional track “Maine Tere Hi Bharose Hanuman”, is now set to undergo medical treatment for his eyes, thanks to a heartwarming gesture by the film’s producer, Anupriya Nagar.
Visually impaired since childhood, Lodhi’s journey is a tale of immense grit and resilience. Before rising to internet fame, he used to sing in local trains while playing the tambura to make a living. His deep devotion and rustic voice eventually caught the attention of the Hanuman Ansh team, giving him the much-deserved breakthrough.
In a recent conversation with host Siddharth Kannan, producer Anupriya Nagar revealed her decision to fund Lodhi’s medical care. She shared that an appointment with an eye specialist has already been secured. “When Sunil came to our office, I instantly felt his talent. He is a god-gifted artist. While many people complain about their shortcomings, Sunil considers his life a blessing from God,” Nagar stated.
The producer further explained the emotional motivation behind her initiative. “Sunil can feel the immense love people are pouring on him for his song, but he cannot see it. I want him to witness the audience’s love with his own eyes,” she said. As soon as Lodhi returns to Mumbai, he will consult the specialist to determine the extent to which his vision can be medically restored.
Despite becoming an overnight sensation, Lodhi remains deeply grounded. According to Nagar, when informed about his massive online popularity, the singer humbly credited his success entirely to the grace of Lord Hanuman rather than his own talent.
This noble gesture from the Bollywood producer follows recent support from the political sphere. Earlier this month, Lodhi met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at his official residence in Bhopal. During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured him of government assistance for his medical evaluation and announced an honorary financial reward of ₹1 lakh.
Meanwhile, Hanuman Ansh continues its phenomenal run at the ticket counters. By its 47th day, the film has reportedly crossed the ₹360 crore mark worldwide, further cementing the deep emotional connection audiences have formed with both the cinematic narrative and Lodhi’s viral bhajan.
