Srinagar: In a decisive move to dismantle the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has initiated a rigorous clean-up campaign, resulting in the dismissal of six government officials, including police personnel, for their involvement in financing terrorism through drug trafficking. The dismissed officials have been accused of participating in a narco-terror network operated by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and affiliated terrorist organizations.
Top sources within the Jammu and Kashmir government revealed that the dismissals were executed under Article 311(2)(c) of the Indian Constitution, which allows for the termination of government employees without an inquiry in cases of national security. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who sanctioned the dismissals, emphasized the government’s commitment to rooting out corruption and terrorism from the region.
A comprehensive investigation provided incriminating evidence against the accused officials, confirming their complicity in the narco-terror network. The probe uncovered that these officials had chosen to support the illegal drug trade, thereby financing terrorism, rather than aiding the government’s efforts to combat narco-terrorism—a growing threat to national security.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha previously stated that narco-terrorism represents one of the most significant security challenges facing India. He underscored that disrupting the narco-terror networks is a crucial element in the broader fight against terrorism, aimed at eradicating the terror ecosystem and fostering peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have been actively thwarting attempts by Pakistani entities to smuggle narcotics into the region, thereby undermining the financial lifelines of terror groups. Authorities have seized properties worth crores of rupees belonging to several narcotics dealers. Deputy General of Police R.R. Swain asserted that every rupee earned through narcotics will be tracked, and all assets linked to this network will be scrutinized. He further stressed that any individual, whether a government employee, police officer, or private citizen, involved in this network would be held accountable.
The recent actions are part of a broader crackdown, with the government dismissing eight employees this month alone for their involvement in narco-terror activities. The administration’s swift and decisive measures underscore its zero-tolerance policy towards any form of support for terrorism, particularly narco-terrorism, which poses a significant threat to the stability and security of the region.
