Ganesh Puja Conveys A Green Message In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A Ganesh Puja committee at Nayapalli here has decided to celebrate a chemical-free festival this year. to send out an eco-friendly message to society.

The eco-friendly festival is jointly organised by Akhandalamani Puja Committee and Mouria Group.

The organisers have installed a 35-ft idol made of natural colours. “As many as 15 artisans from Kolkata took 45 days to make the idol,” informed Sumanta Samantray, the puja committee president.

A Nataraj idol and a 35-kg ladoo are placed beside the Ganesh idol at the pandal. The organisers have also earmarked a selfie zone near the pandal for visitors.

“Since we have lost many trees in Cyclone Fani, we will conduct a tree plantation drive here. Besides, our puja pandal has been declared a no plastic zone,” Samantray said.

A seven-day cultural programme will also be held on the occasion.

“We will prepare Prasad for 10,000 people on Saturday,” said Sumanta.

The idol immersion ceremony will be held on Sunday.
