From Balcony To Bunker: How Salman Khan’s Home Transformed Overnight

Mumbai: India’s one Salman Khan’s ‘Galaxy Apartment’ residence in Mumbai was reassigned with more security after death threats and the murder of friend Baba Siddiqui.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, which has long been after the actor in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, has threatened to kill the actor a number of times this year. Authorities have also tightened security at Khan’s home in response. Bulletproof glass was also installed on the balcony where Khan used to greet fans on festival and his birthday days.

Now sealed off for the safety of Khan and his family, this iconic spot was open to the public before. The windows have been similarly protected, and high-tech security equipment has been installed.

Mumbai Police has also set up a dedicated outpost opposite Khan’s residence. The premises have been equipped with high-resolution CCTVs and have been placed with high-security tracers in every corner of the Galaxy Apartment.

The shooting incident outside Khan’s home, which took place on 14 April 2024, was nothing but an incident where five rounds were fired. This led to higher concerns about the murder of Baba Siddiqui, which then further increased the fears for Khan’s safety.

Separately, the Mumbai Crime Branch has filed a 4,590-page charge sheet in the MCOCA court in connection with the murder of Siddiqui. The 26 suspects arrested and three fugitives named in the document include Shubham Lonkar, Zeeshan Akhtar, and Anmol Bishnoi. The charge sheet consists of statements of 180 witnesses.

The security detail protecting Khan has now been upgraded to Y+ category—which requires about 25 security personnel, including NSG commandos, around the clock—and work on the remaining sections of the apartment continues.
