NewDelhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted his first crucial call with President Donald Trump since Trump’s presidential inauguration on Monday. In a telephone conversation, both leaders showed their resolve to build a stronger partnership between India and the United States regarding strategic priorities.

After the call, PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to show his happiness about Trump achieving a “historic second term” as president. The leader continued, “We maintain dedication to building partnerships that deliver mutual value and generate trust.” We will operate jointly to achieve benefits that serve our people, such as international peace, security, and prosperity. Leaders share that same purpose regarding enhancing collaboration to better respond to current global challenges.

Two leaders explored multiple dimensions of their Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, which focused on technology, trade, investment, energy, and defence strategies. The leaders shared their perspectives about critical worldwide matters, including developments in West Asian countries and Ukrainian circumstances. The leaders made clear their commitment to uniting efforts to advance worldwide stability and prosperity.

Illegal immigration continues to dominate public discussions as Prime Minister Modi joins President Trump in their dialogue. Under instructions from India’s External Affairs Ministry, officials openly oppose illegal immigration due to its connection with criminal organisations. Randhir Jaiswal spoke on behalf of India to explain that the country will handle the return of illegal Indian residents in the United States based on complete national identity authentication. The announcement matches immigration plan priorities outlined by the Trump administration, emphasising stricter immigration enforcement.

Several signs indicate another imminent meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi. Intelligence analysts predict Trump will join the Paris Artificial Intelligence meeting in mid-February and potentially meet Modi at this summit. If Trump avoids attending the meeting, Modi plans to travel to Washington for their first in-person discussion since February 2020.

Strategic discussions between India and the US continue to emphasise tactical cooperation because both countries face dynamic geopolitical challenges. Both transition officials demonstrate optimism about developing their mutual achievements from earlier presidential periods.
