New Delhi: Microblogging site X, previously known as Twitter, faced another glitch on 10 March, as users experienced issues logging into the platform starting at around 3:00 PM. The website and app were both down, sparking more than 2,500 users to report the problems on Downdetector, with complaints first pouring in around 3:30 PM.
While X did not issue a formal comment on the outage, accounts were back up by 3:45 PM, and users were able to log in again. The disruption, according to the platform itself, was mainly affecting India, while there were no reports of such issues in any other country. X has already experienced several consecutive outages in 2022 and the early part of 2023, which were significant enough to force many users out and prompt others to consider alternative options.
Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms also face occasional downtime. In recent weeks, Facebook changed how people should download their live videos. With the new policy, however, live streams were going to have a limited lifespan. In a blog post, Facebook explained this change by saying that any live videos shared from a user profile or page would be removed 30 days from the date of streaming. In February of 2016, Facebook Mentions introduced Facebook Live as a feature, which later underwent a renaming.
