Bengaluru: In the ongoing investigations into the murder of ex-Karnataka DGP Omprakash, it is a vital piece of information that has surfaced at the moment. Pallavi, a few hours after the crime, allegedly made a video call to the wife of another ex-DGP and claimed she had killed a “monster”. The other wife of the former DGP was taken aback by this explosive claim and immediately informed the police about it. In fact, the incident was earlier known to the police by Pallavi herself.

These details were shared by Bengaluru Additional Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar at a press conference. The police control room (112) received information around 4.30 PM on Sunday, he said. When police arrived at the scene, Omprakash badly injured, along with his wife Pallavi and their daughter. Following the incident, Omprakash’s son also filed a complaint, alleging his father’s death by stabbing.

Police sent Omprakash to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead. They later sent his body for an autopsy. The police have not yet made any arrests in the case but have pursued certain angles. The investigation has also placed Pallavi and her daughter in custody.

While police are investigating the matter, police have been unable to ascertain a motive. It requires a detailed investigation, and we suspect that her involvement in the crime is possible since she rang up another police officer’s wife on a video call soon after the incident,” said a police official. It thus hints that Pallavi must have been unhappy with her husband, which might have resulted in the incident.

Sources privy to the investigation revealed that Omprakash was scared for his life before the incident. Days earlier he had supposedly told colleagues that he would not be surprised if someone close to him, possibly a fellow member of the elite, killed him. He did not name Pallavi, but his hints helped his colleagues understand the impending danger. Omprakash had lodged a complaint at the local police station, as he was concerned about the said individual.

Based in Bengaluru at the time, Omprakash hailed from Champaran in Bihar and was a retired officer.
