New Delhi: Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has left his millions of fans around the globe deeply emotional after dropping a massive hint regarding his impending retirement. The legendary forward, who currently plays for the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, recently indicated that the ongoing season could possibly be his last in professional football.

The thirty nine year old superstar recently tied the knot with his longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez. The couple exchanged vows in an intimate private ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on August 11, exactly ten years after their first meeting. Following the wedding, discussions about his personal life eventually steered towards his future after football, prompting the five time Ballon d’Or winner to make a startling revelation about his remaining time on the pitch.

In a candid and exclusive conversation with Vogue magazine, Ronaldo stated that he is preparing for the final chapter of his illustrious career. “This is probably my last year in football and I want to leave a great legacy,” the star striker expressed. While he has not issued a formal retirement announcement or set a specific date for his final match, his statements strongly suggest that he is gearing up to hang his boots after the current season concludes.

Ronaldo further revealed that he has already thought extensively about his life after retiring from the sport. “I have planned my future completely,” he confirmed. Acknowledging that walking away from the game will create a massive void in his life, the Portuguese captain shared his intentions to stay occupied with various activities rather than focusing on a single pursuit.

Reflecting on his post retirement plans, Ronaldo explained, “I have so many things to keep myself busy with that it is hard to name just one. Because with football gone, there could be a huge void, so you have to spend your time in different ways, not just in one thing.”

He also emphasised his desire to enjoy the fruits of his relentless hard work over the decades. “At the same time, I want to have more fun, travel, play padel and watch what I love, and continue to enjoy what I have earned, what we have earned. Because ultimately, this has all been achieved after sacrificing a lot for 25 years,” he added.
