New Delhi: In a fresh controversy ahead of the upcoming elections, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera has come under scrutiny after election officials discovered that he holds two separate voter ID cards.

The revelation has prompted authorities to issue an official notice to Khera, demanding clarification on the matter.

According to reports, the Election Commission flagged the issue during a routine verification process, which revealed that Khera’s name appears on voter lists in two different constituencies — one in Delhi and another in a separate location. This development follows similar notices recently served to prominent leaders Tejashwi Yadav and Vijay Sinha, raising concerns over the integrity of electoral rolls.

Sources indicate that the duplicate voter IDs were detected through cross-referencing databases maintained by the Chief Electoral Officer. The notice issued to Khera seeks an explanation and may lead to further investigation if discrepancies are confirmed.

While Khera has yet to issue a formal statement, party insiders suggest that the matter may be a clerical oversight rather than deliberate misconduct. Nonetheless, the incident has sparked political debate, with Opposition parties demanding accountability and transparency from all public representatives.

Election officials have reiterated their commitment to maintaining clean and accurate voter records, especially as the nation gears up for a crucial electoral season. The possession of multiple voter IDs is a violation of electoral norms and could attract legal consequences under the Representation of the People Act.

As the story unfolds, all eyes are on how the Congress leadership responds to the notice and whether further action will be taken against Khera.
