Eggs And Chairs Fly As Congress And BRS Supporters Clash In Telangana

Hyderabad: Staff members from Congress and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) fought violently in Jangaon, Telangana, thereby creating significant disturbance during their dispute. Workers engaged in chair-tossing as well as suspected egg-tossing. Law enforcement used batons to punch the crowd to break up the growing crowd. The incident has become widely shared on social media networks through viral video footage.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy planned to inaugurate projects at Erragunta Thanda in the Jangaon district, marking the conflict’s starting point. However, official intervention forced administrators to prevent the minister’s attendance because of the violent confrontation between Congress and BRS supporters.

BRS supporters joined local MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy at the venue, escalating tensions between constituents. Some BRS workers encountered police barriers outside and began chanting the inspirational slogan “Jai Palla, Jai BRS.” Congress workers retaliated by cheering “Jai Congress” while demonstrating with “Palla Go Back.” The heated confrontation switched violent when both sides started attacking each other with thrown chairs. Several videos show how many broken chairs were left strewn on the location’s floors after the violent incident.

During the disturbance, Congress members reportedly launched eggs at MLA Palla. The security forces at the scene used batons, which hurt multiple leaders, including a BRS official and eight district legislators, alongside additional leadership personnel. The BRS leadership team faced security detention, which included their elected MLA. The increasing tensions led the authorities to immediately cancel the minister’s visit while supervising senior officials became responsible for conducting the scheme inauguration.

BRS senior MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao criticised the police action, describing it as undemocratic oppression. According to T. Harish Rao, the leadership under Congress delivered public oppression disguised as administration. Rao pressed for the immediate release of the detained MLAs, former village heads, and municipal council members while requesting strong measures against the police department.
