Jharsuguda: The authorities of the Vir Surendra Sai Airport launched an awareness drive for safe aircraft operations on Thursday.
The airport stakeholders and students of Durlaga Government School participated in the drive in front of the old airport and local market at Durlaga.
As part of the drive, the airport director, Sudesh Kumar Chauhan, and other officials told the general public and passersby about the potential threat to aircraft operations due to dumping of the garbage in the open in the airport’s periphery which attracted birds and animals.
The officials and students distributed handouts in the form of a public notice. The school children also a human chain to spread awareness.
For wider publicity, banners were put up in front of the airport terminal building and messages were displayed at the flight information display system for passengers.
