New Delhi: The Centre has stepped in to address payment related problems faced by students and parents on the CBSE revaluation portal, with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan taking up the matter with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The intervention comes after complaints that students were facing failed transactions, pending payment status and excess deductions while applying for rechecking and scanned copies of answer sheets.
According to the report, Pradhan spoke to Sitharaman on May 24, 2026, following growing concerns over the functioning of the Central Board of Secondary Education’s payment gateway. After the discussion, it was decided that four major public sector banks will support CBSE in strengthening and upgrading its payment infrastructure.
The four banks are State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank. These banks will work to connect their advanced digital systems with the CBSE portal so that online transactions become safer, faster and more reliable for students and parents.
The move is significant because many students applying for revaluation and scanned copies had reportedly complained that money was deducted from their bank accounts, but the CBSE portal continued to show the payment as failed or pending. In some cases, there were also complaints of more money being deducted than the required fee.
With the support of the banks, a stronger payment protocol is expected to be put in place. The aim is to ensure that digital transactions are completed without disruption and that students do not face uncertainty after paying the required fees.
The report also said that once the new system is implemented, students and parents will not have to struggle for refunds in cases of excess or duplicate deduction. If money is deducted more than once or beyond the fixed fee due to a technical fault, the extra amount will be automatically refunded to the same account from which it was debited.
Pradhan has also directed the CBSE administration to completely improve its old payment gateway system. He said the joint effort of the Finance Ministry and the banks is aimed at giving students and parents a smooth, secure and convenient experience.
The development is likely to bring relief to thousands of students who depend on CBSE’s online system after results for rechecking, scanned answer sheets and revaluation. For students already under academic pressure, a reliable payment system is not just a technical need but an important part of a fair and transparent post result process.
