New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on June 21, following widespread allegations of paper leaks and irregularities in the medical entrance examination.

Addressing a press conference, Pradhan said the government was committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the examination process. He also assured students that strict action would be taken against those found responsible for the alleged leak and administrative lapses.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), with the approval of the Centre, decided to reconduct the examination after mounting pressure from students and parents demanding a fair evaluation process. The original exam was cancelled following reports that question papers had been leaked in multiple states.

Pradhan reportedly acknowledged a “breach in the command chain” during the examination process and said the government was taking moral responsibility for the lapses. He emphasised that the interests of students remained the government’s top priority.

According to officials, candidates will not have to submit fresh applications or pay additional fees for the re-exam. The NTA is expected to release revised admit cards and detailed examination guidelines soon.

The controversy surrounding NEET UG 2026 has sparked protests across several cities, with opposition parties and student organisations demanding accountability and reforms in the examination system. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its probe into the alleged paper leak network, carrying out searches and arrests in multiple states.
